The Grant Township Center Park recently underwent a major expansion designed to elevate the recreational offerings for residents of all ages. The overarching goal was to modernize the park while fostering accessibility and engagement, helping residents connect with nature through inclusive, interactive experiences. With a community-driven focus on enhancing passive and active recreation, the expansion introduced a disc golf course, fishing station, pickleball courts, bocce ball, and, most notably, a sports-themed splash pad.
The new splash pad brings the love for the big game to the heart of the park. A dynamic mix of Water Odyssey’s themed and Essential aquatic play features creates a multi-sensory aquatic environment with bold visuals and playful interactivity. Sports-themed favorites include the Ace Aqua Spout, Blitz Aqua Spot, and GOOOAAAAL Aqua Spout, alongside the baseball-themed dumping buckets and a Goal Post Rain Sprayer. Children can zoom down the Kick-Off Aqua Slide, a football-themed waterslide perfect for younger age groups and engage in hands-on fun with the Roll-A-Rail, an interactive water toy activated by turning a wheel. A Spin N' Spray Baseball and Big Sqwerts Soccer Ball provide water-blasting excitement with a simple turn and promote social play. A mix of ground sprays, including the Directional Eyeball and the Simple Spray, add bursts of water to the splash pad design.
Beyond the fun, the splash pad is thoughtfully engineered for optimal performance and sustainability. It utilizes a flow-through water management system that draws water from a nearby well, enhanced by a water softener and filtration equipment to ensure optimal water quality. A brass manifold pumps water to the splash pad’s features, and a Touch N’ Go bollard gives patrons the power to activate the splash pad with the push of a button.
This exciting project was brought to life through a collaborative effort between Water Odyssey, Products4Parks, Hitchcock Design Group, and the Grant Township, all committed to providing a playfully themed, accessible aquatic play space for the local community.
