Nestled in the scenic Ozarks of Missouri, Bennett Springs State Park is widely known for its trout fishing, drawing fly-fishing enthusiasts from across the region. Beyond the riverbanks, the park offers a peaceful retreat for campers, hikers, and nature lovers alike. In a continued effort to expand its recreational offerings and appeal to a broader audience, the park recently introduced a new nature-themed spray park, providing an exciting, inclusive replacement for the aging swimming pool that once served the area.
The new aquatic play space, located just south of the neighboring campgrounds, is designed to provide a refreshing outlet for patrons of all ages visiting the park. According to Park Manager Gabe DuMond, the splash pad is a “highly anticipated addition” that brings new energy and inclusive aquatic play to the park’s traditional offerings.
Designed and equipped with Water Odyssey aquatic play products, the spray park mimics the natural surroundings with thoughtfully themed aquatic play elements that reflect the park’s landscape and wildlife. Standout features include the Cattails Too™, Complete 3 Unit Group, a sculptural water feature topped with bee and dragonfly Fun Forms that blend seamlessly into the park’s environment. A custom trout-themed Aqua Spout pays homage to the trout that make Bennett Springs a world-class fishing destination, while a Large Stone Aqua Spout delivers water play fun with a rugged, nature-inspired look.
Interactive elements continue with the Crookett, a whimsically styled feature that includes eight Magic Flow™ Nozzles and an aerated jet stream for dynamic aquatic play, and the Dew Buckets, a two-bucket tipping feature that delights with unpredictable splashes from above. A single Water Ring mists patrons as they run through its arch. Ground sprays, including Directional Eyeball jets and Jet Ways, create playful water effects across the splash zone floor.
Operationally, the spray park is equipped with a Touch N' Go™ Bollard, allowing users to activate the splash pad with a simple tap. A painted hand provides a clear visual cue for children. A dynamic sequencing controller allows park staff to manage operating hours and sequence the feature's spray effects, while the manifold system, built with brass valves to support long-term durability, ensures efficient and consistent water distribution throughout the aquatic play area.
This thoughtfully themed splash pad, powered by Water Odyssey aquatic play products and mechanical systems, demonstrates how natural settings and innovative design can come together to create inclusive, memorable aquatic play experiences for all park visitors.
